VOID FRACTION - Quarrying the Vertical
A series of performative installations and sculptures as part of the Void Fraction Residency at PASAJist, an independent art space currently resident in Barın Han in Istanbul.
Their investigations in Istanbul led them into the realms of contemporary 'spolia' - the repurposing of building material and its relationship to the glut of today's industrial by-products.
The intertwined installations and performances are responses to the space itself, the artists' visit to a local quarry and a winding 20km walking tour of the Istanbul City Walls. Materials used in the space were found within and around Barin Han.
